"Overrides" tab

You can connect external filters on this tab (already installed on your system or from files).

This tab opens very wide abilities to the user. You can directly connect filters' files without need to install them in your system. This allows you to burn configured MPC with all needed codecs on CD, so you can watch movies on any computer with Windows installed.

Add filter... - adds filter to the list. Opens such a window:

It's the list of all installed filters on your system. It is used to select them if, for example, you want to change their merit or to block them to solve some conflicts. The Browse... button allows you to select and connect a filter directly from a file.

Remove - removes filter from the list.

Prefer/Block/Set merit - you set the way the filter works here. "Prefer" - program prefers this filter, it doesn't depend on the system priority. "Block" - simply blocks filter. "Set merit" - allows you to select filter's priority. The higher number - the higher priority - there is more chance that this filter is used.

Up/Down - changes filters' order. Doesn't affect their priority.

Add Media Type... - allows you to select the global type of data for selected filter (Video, Audio, Midi, etc., or CLSID type).

Add Sub Type... Sets a certain type (subtype) for the previous option. Usually it's codec's, container's FOURCC or their CLSID.

Delete - deletes type or subtype.

Reset List - resets list to the default condition.
